Faucaria felina var. felina

Faucaria felina var. felina is a small, stemless succulent that may branch a little. It produces opposite, sessile leaf-pairs. Golden-yellow flowers appear in autumn or early winter at stem tips. Several rows of narrow petals spread and rise around the orange centre. Fleshy thick sepals are erect around the flower base. The corollas of the flowers wither to orange remains on the green calyx base that gradually bulges to transform into dark, persistent fruit capsules.

These plants occur widespread in the Eastern Cape and parts of the Karoo (Smith, et al, 1998; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984).
