The erect, succulent leaves of Malephora lutea grow in opposite pairs on the upper soft stems. They are hairless with a waxy layer upon the surface that rubs off easily. The leaf-shape is between cylindrical and triangular in cross-section, becoming 4,5 cm long and 5 mm wide. Leaf colours from pale green to blue-green are seen (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Smith, et al, 1998; Wikipedia).
