The almost sessile, short-stalked flowers of Bijlia dilatata are bright yellow or orange yellow, borne inside the leaf rosettes. Usually one but up to three flowers may be borne from one rosette. There are bracts of up to 6 mm long below the sepals.

The flowers have soft, short petals around central cones of stamens consisting of white filaments and yellow anthers. There are five stigmas in one flower, at least as long as the stamens.

Flowers open by noon and close at dusk. Flowering happens early in autumn in a short blooming season (Frandsen, 2017; Smith, et al, 1998; Labarre, (Ed.), 1931; www.llifle.com).
