The flower of Neobolusia tysonii has two pointed, spreading lateral sepals, the brown and green colouring dominating in different plants or in different stages of their blooming.

The white or pink lip, widest near its tip, is the other flower part of this orchid readily noticed. The unlobed lip with boat-shaped base and flat tip becomes up to 12 mm long, 8 mm wide. This species grows no spurs (or pouches) on its flowers.

There are white and pale brown lateral petals, pointed and arched around the column, obscuring it from view in the photo (Pooley, 1998; www.africanorchids.dk).
