Suaeda fruticosa flowers

The small, inconspicuous flowers of Suaeda fruticosa grow from leaf axils. The reddish flowers in picture are enigmatic. The flower colour is not mentioned in the descriptions of some sources, while it is reported as greenish or yellowish, turning black before the segments drop off early. Suaeda flowers generally have five-lobed perianths, five stamens and superior ovaries.
