The simple and alternate Clutia ericoides leaves are long and narrow, up to 10 mm long and 3 mm wide, though not quite straight. The thickish blades are concave on top, convex on the back and tapering slowly at both ends.

What might be a short petiole is yellow on the leaves in picture. A faint hairiness is visible on the dull green leaf surfaces. There is usually a characteristic black part on the base of each leaf axil bud, either on the petiole or on part of bracts.

Bud and flower pedicels are short and straight (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok 2015; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
