Pentzia dentata flowerheads

The nearly flat-topped, stem-tip clusters of Pentzia dentata flowerheads are compact, few-headed with leaves up to or close to the head peduncles.

The involucres are globose, comprising from three to five rows of bracts, the bract margins membranous and dry.

The fragrant disc florets are yellow, each tiny corolla tube ending in five equal, ovate lobes. There are no ray florets. The head diameter is about 5 mm. Stamens and styles protrude at different times from the bisexual florets.

Flowering happens from late autumn to after midsummer (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Leistner, (Ed.), 2000; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
