The leaves of Hypocalyptus sophoroides are digitately trifoliolate, as is the case throughout the genus of three South African species. The spoon-shaped to wedge-shaped leaflets are wide near their sometimes-notched tips (shaped oblanceolate to obovate). They are hairless and dull green to blue-green with entire margins. The leaflets are from 1 cm to 3,5 cm long (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Manning, 2007; Leistner, (Ed.), 2000; iNaturalist).
