Pavonia burchellii, commonly known as the dainty pavonia, is an evergreen shrub that grows to 1 m in height. The plant used to be known scientifically as P. patens. The leaves are alternate, three to five lobed and palmate in shape. They grow on long petioles.

The flowers grow solitary from leaf axils, lasting about one day each. Flowering happens from mid-spring to mid-autumn.

The plants grow in forest margins and bushy vegetation. The widespread species distribution ensures the plants survival status, not threatened in its habitat early in the twenty first century (Manning, 2009; www.sunshine-seeds.de; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
