The blue and white flowers of Psoralea aphylla, the kaalfonteinbos (bare fountainbush) in Afrikaans, are seen here in March. Blooms can be expected for this species from spring through to autumn. Some forms of this plant have sweet scented flowers, but not all.

The genus belongs to the large Fabaceae or legume family as confirmed by the pea-type flowers. The species is confined in nature to stream banks and wetlands of the extreme western parts of the Cape (Coates Palgrave, 2002; Bean and Johns, 2005).
