Plumbago zeylanica, commonly known as Ceylon leadwort or doctorbush, is a white-flowering member of the Plumbago genus, a shrub reaching heights around 1,5 m. The leadworts belong to the Plumbaginaceae family and are dicots, i.e. the seeds have two embrionic leaves.
The plant, an exotic apparently originally from Arizona in the United States occurs naturalised widespread in at least KwaZulu-Natal, the Free State and provinces north of the Vaal River, as well as in many other warmer climate regions globally (Pooley, 1998; iNaturalist; Wikipedia; https://aznps.com; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
