The small flowerheads of Diastella divaricata subsp. divaricata grow at branch tips. Flowerheads are pink and measure up to 1,5 cm across. The upper row of involucral bracts is spread widely, become paler with age as do the perianths. The hairy bracts are oblong or slightly tapering to their rounded tips. This species flowers all year round.

Diastella is one of the less known Proteaceae genera, comprising seven species, all endemic to fynbos (Manning, 2007; Bean and Johns, 2005).
