Aulax umbellata old male flowers

This male Aulax umbellata inflorescence consists of a cluster of narrow, loose racemes, fairly old flowers. The tiny florets ascend in the racemes that look like erect, soft, pale, yellow catkins. From four to ten racemes may form a male inflorescence.

The photo was taken in Fernkloof in March at the end of the flowering season (Manning, 2007; Bean and Johns, 2005; Rebelo, 1995; iNaturalist).
