Leysera gnaphalodes flowerheads

The flowerheads of Leysera gnaphalodes grow solitary from leaf axils and stem tips, sometimes forming loose clusters around the upper branch parts.

Each flowerhead has a long slender, finely hairy peduncle, varying in length from 5 cm to 10 cm. The bell-shaped involucre has four or more rows of narrow, stiff bracts that are papery at their tips. Both the ray and disc florets are bright yellow. The rays are female, the tiny, five-lobed disc florets bisexual. Flowerhead diameter is about 1,5 cm.

Flowering happens in spring and early summer (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Manning, 2007; Manning and Goldblatt, 1996; iSpot).
