Senna italica is a small shrub or perennial herb growing trailing branches. The species has three subspecies: subsp. arachnoides with greener, more up-turned leaves is presented in this Album. There are also subsp. italica and subsp. micrantha.

A French Wikipedia article (2018) gives a photo of a plant matching the one in picture. That photo was taken in Dubai, identified as S. italica but without a subspecies indication.

Common names give clues to S. italicas wide distribution, starting with the Italian connection of the specific name, sometimes modified to Italian dog senna. Others that appear include Senegal senna, Tripoli senna, Jamaican senna and Port Royal senna (Pooley, 1998; Van Wyk and Gericke, 2000; iSpot; JSTOR; Wikipedia; www.zimbabweflora.co.zw).
