Achyranthemum paniculatum is commonly known as a sewejaartjie (everlasting or literally "little seven years"), as are several other species of Asteraceae, and previously scientifically as Syncarpha paniculata and Helichrysum paniculatum among more names. It is a silvery-felted shrublet reaching heights from 20 cm to 60 cm.
The species distribution is in the Western Cape from the Gifberg to the Swartberg Mountains, also coastally and further east to the west of the Eastern Cape, as far as Makhanda.
The habitat is fynbos, succulent Karoo and thicket on rocky slopes in sandy soils, often on higher slopes. The habitat population is deemed of least concern early in the twenty first century (Euston-Brown and Kruger, 2023; Manning, 2009; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
