    The sessile or stalkless leaves of Lachnaea filamentosa overlap, sometimes densely, ascending up the young, brown or reddish upper stem parts.

    Lower down the stems are grey, woody and bare, all leaves having dropped off, the surfaces slightly rough. Lower leaves in picture are yellowing, signalling imminent departure.

    The ovate leaves with entire margins vary in width, tapering to acutely pointed tips (Manning 2007; Leistner, (Ed.), 2000; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
