Larryleachia perlata stem

The club-shaped to nearly cylindrical stems of Larryleachia perlata become about 4 cm in diameter. A stem base tends to be angled from the size of the tubercles covering its surface, the upper parts with smaller tubercles smoother. The grey-green stem changes colour between its two options with the seasons, heralding growth when greener, rest when greyer.

The gully formed by the fold across the top and down the side of the stem in picture is atypical, the scattering of small flowers across the surface of upper stem parts and the shapes of the tubercles common (Williamson, 2010; White and Sloane, 1937).
