These green Pterocelastrus tricuspidatus fruits are three-lobed, short-pedicelled capsules grown in dense clusters.

They have one or two, sometimes three horns on top, protruding from each lobe. The specific name, tricuspidatus, is a Latin word meaning tipped with three cusps. The fruits are about 1 cm in diameter.

The seeds germinate easily, the tree used in the horticulture trade (Venter, 2012; Coates Palgrave, 2002; Pooley, 1993; INaturalist; http://pza.sanbi.org).
