Greyia sutherlandii inflorescence

This Greyia sutherlandii inflorescence seen during June is compact and many-flowered, the flowers bisexual. The five red petals of each flower are free and much longer than the five green sepals around the corolla base.

The ten stamens in two rows diverge far above the petal tips on red filaments, their anthers small and cream-coloured in picture. The five-locule ovary in the dark flower base is superior, the style upon it simple. 

The fruit is a five-grooved capsule (Leistner, (Ed.), 2000; Pooley, 1998; iNaturalist).
