Bloodwood, Transvaal teak or kiaat (Afrikaans) has compound leaves that are hairy underneath.
The dark coloured bark is rough with longitudinal fissures on old stems.
The orange-yellow pea-type flowers appear in large sprays.
The bloodwood name originates from the red sap exuded when live stems are sawn (Coates Palgrave, 2002; iNaturalist; www.plantzafrica.com).
