Two colours of the male cones of Podocarpus elongatus, representing different developmental stages, were spotted for this picture. Both of the dense clusters grow from leaf axils near stem tips. The upper one seems younger, more cream coloured, the beige one lower down shows more differentiation. The photo was taken in October, earlier than the time they are normally seen.
The narrowly elliptic leaves clustered near the stem tips show faintly visible midribs (Coates Palgrave, 2002; iSpot; Wikipedia).
