Apart from some flowers and a brightly coloured, puffy seed capsule, this Nymania capensis plant also presents the small green beginnings of new fruit. The yet undeveloped capsules are already four-segmented, resembling the large, mature one in shape. They are not yet inflated, showing just a hint of reddish colouring and are still covered in short white hairs. The stalks from which the fruits hang are thicker below near the fruit than higher up.

Note the cream colour of the anthers that protrude on white filaments far beyond the corolla. Young flowers of N. capensis are tubular, mature ones tend to a bell-shape.

The flowers of this species are pollinated by bees, bumblebees and sunbirds (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Coates Palgrave, 2002; Van Wyk and Van Wyk, 1997).
