The greenish white, cream or pale yellow flowers of Bersama lucens grow on slender stalks in firm, upstanding racemes of about 15 cm in length at branch ends and leaf axils. The five-petalled flower is small, about 6 mm in diameter. The four stamens protrude above the spreading corolla.

The flowering season is long, from late spring to the end of the following winter. Flowers, green fruit and brown dehisced capsule coverings may all be seen during that time on the same tree (Coates Palgrave, 2002; Schmidt, et al, 2002; Van Wyk and Van Wyk, 1997; Pooley, 1993).
