Halfway dehisced, its three lobes spreading at an angle, this Putterlickia pyracantha fruit is losing colour as it slowly desiccates, hanging down on its long stalk. The seeds are still attached on the inside.
The lobe tips of the capsule have narrowly pointed tips. The brown calyx remains are short and curly at the back of the fruit (Coates Palgrave, 2002; Van Wyk and Van Wyk, 1997; Pooley, 1993; iSpot).
