When no growth is taking place at an Englerophytum magalismontanum stem-tip, the stiff, leathery leaves spread.

Their margins are slightly wavy and rolled under, their rounded tips mostly curved down a little. There is often a slight fold along the midrib that may show itself cream-coloured in the lower part of the leaf. The grey bloom sometimes present on these leaves is not seen in the photo but the gloss is there (Coates Palgrave, 2002).
