Schizoglossum bidens subsp. atrorubens flowers

The inflorescences of Schizoglossum bidens subsp. atrorubens grow on straight, hairy, green peduncles from leaf axils. About five flowers grow in an umbel on whitish hairy pedicels, facing up. There are inconspicuous, thread-like, hairy bracteoles below the flowers. Atrorubens means blackish red.

Flowering happens from spring to after midautumn. 

The bristle-covered fruits are solitary with beaked tips, the bristles soft and recurving (Leistner, (Ed.), 2000; Pooley, 1998; iNaturalist).
