    The small, creamy Melasphaerula graminea flowers are unevenly spaced on their wiry, branched stems that tend to trail over surrounding bushes, widely when the plant is strong. Each star-shaped flower is only about 1,5 cm in diameter.

    A large, rambling inflorescence using neighbouring plants for support is unusual in the Iridaceae family of bulbous plants (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Manning, 2007; Le Roux, et al, 2005; Leistner, (Ed.), 2000; iNaturalist).
