    The Bowiea volubilis subsp. volubilis flowers show their long, sturdy peduncles, growing singly from the stem.

    The six tepals spread their tips, some slightly reflexed in their lower parts but the tips do not recurve here. The six stamens are widely angled up from below the ovary that bulges in the flower centre. The greenish style is erect, shortish on top of the ovary.

    Belonging to the Hyacinthaceae family is a fact not easily recognised from looking at these flowers (Leistner, (Ed.), 2000; Pooley, 1998).
