Steep slopes of narrow gullies influence the routes taken by travellers in accordance with their agility. The slopes also determine the flow of seasonal or permanent watercourses and the shapes of those narrow river forests snaking their way along the lowest ground through the mountains.

In these cool and dark places the vegetation and animal populations intrigue people familiar with living in the exposed regions elsewhere. Adventurous types love exploring, swimming, climbing and even a snooze here on a care-free, quiet day. Making such places accessible to masses of the general public for entertainment by means of steps, bridges and cable supports is called the inevitable march of civilisation. Being civilised has the requirement and resource of good sense to manage access.

People will and must explore and gain access to some remote places. Its their nature. But leave some inaccessible or nearly so for the sake of authenticity.
