Crassula pubescens subsp. pubescens can also perform where rocks prevail. The only accompanying vegetation or at least signs of life present here at Kagga Kamma among stone, rock and boulder is questionable or marginal. It is the lichen covering on some of the stones, burdened with an overdose of sunshine during the long, dry summer.

Still, the plant’s performance is a success story. The true to type unfolding of all the plants characteristic features without example or instruction has proceeded to the stage of ample flowering, driven only by the genetic endowment locked up in all its cells (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; iNaturalist).
