A Limosella vesiculosa plant may present numerous flowers although they grow only solitary from leaf axils. The small white flowers grow stalked but without bracts.

Under these flowers and leaves much living goes on if the ecology is undisturbed. The multiple roots and continual rooting from connected nodes serve as a habitat for microfauna, providing food and shelter to several aquatic species, including fish, insects, and amphibians. The plants contribute continuously to the stable ecosystem in nutrient cycling by using some and to water quality by filtering pollutants (Leistner, (Ed.), 2000; iNaturalist; https://www.botanicalrealm.com).
