Utricularia bisquamata is in Afrikaans known as the fonteingesiggie (little spring pansy or little spring (fountain) face). Impressive stands of the tiny two or three-coloured flowers on erect stalks are commonly seen close to water in spring and summer, often in the company of some Drosera species. (Insects look out!)

These carnivorous plants have active traps on their leaves that capture small insects.

The species is traded internationally as a container plant in the UK, the USA and probably more widely (Manning, 2007; iSpot; Wikipedia).
