This slender Wachendorfia with wet feet is thought to be Wachendorfia paniculata. It grows next to a stream in the Gifberg, photographed in October.

The small flowers are bright yellow, lacking petal markings. The panicle is lax, the buds pinkish brown.

    W. paniculata is a quite variable species. W. graminifolia is now sunk into it, while W. parviflora has become W. multiflora, leaving only four species in this South African fynbos genus (Manning, 2007; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
