Clouds over the Chobe

The Chobe River is about 250 m wide at Kasane in Botswana. The borders of four countries almost meet in one place near here: They are Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Zambia. This is close to where the Chobe flows into the Zambezi.

Upstream, at its beginnings in Angola, the Chobe River is called the Cuando and for some part the Linyanti, where it is swampy. This river system usually contributes only a small part of the Zambezis water, due to evaporation from the extensive swamps found here.

The highway from Gaborone in the south also passes the town of Kasane. Tourist interests in the region include the Chobe National Park, the Victoria Falls, the Caprivi Strip and the Okavango Delta. Chobe National Park elephants are much seen near the River during the dry season.

The riverine woodland is rich in diversity, dryer across the Chobe Flood Plain to the south. River cruises and game drives provide the shine for fleeting visits. The substance of wildlife including big mammals, birds and vegetation offers much more (Wikipedia).
