Esterhuysenia drepanophylla

Esterhuysenia drepanophylla is not well-known as it grows on higher mountain slopes in a limited part of the Western Cape. The pink-purple mesemb also went by several other names until fairly recently.

This does not detract from the plants charm. Encountering it in flower among the rocks is something special in its fynbos habitat (Leistner, (Ed.), 2000; Smith, et al, 1998; iNaturalist).
