Out of harm’s way, upon their rocky cliff, plants may go without some comforts, enjoying others. The Aloe perfoliata rosettes seen here have slowly multiplied over the years in seemingly precarious conditions without appearing any the worse for having to live in such a place.

Sharing soil with other plants on this steep frontier, they all bloom as they can, each member of the unique little community in the season fitting its nature. Other living things coexisting harmoniously might do a group dance or sing as a choir, depending on their endowments. Performing natural functions in unison across species borders lifts nature into wonder.
