    Agriculture is in many cases more feasible in the valleys and flats between and below mountains. Mountainous areas featuring rocks and steep slopes tend to survive the multifarious plans of men more than mice for inflicting progress. In this way natural montane vegetation may survive better in the thoroughly populated parts of habitable earth.

    The scourge of fires may cause damage where burning occurs too often or causing landslides from inundation shortly after fire.
