Aloe chortolirioides var. woolliana is a grass aloe enjoying some protection from the rocky cliffs of its habitat against the winter veld fires.
Adding branches over the years from annual resprouting, the numerous, unburnt stem-tip inflorescences give the mature plant a conspicuous presence contrasting against the grass among the rocks and cliffs.
Winter flowering may extend into other seasons, but not much (Craib, 2005; Van Wyk and Smith, 2003; Reynolds, 1974; Jeppe, 1969; iNaturalist).
