The picture was taken near Springbok at Goegap. It was thought to be a Hoodia, but Euphorbia is probably a better bet. Few Euphorbia species of the region growing such stems could achieve this size.
E. polygona doesnt occur in this area. E. stellispina may apparently be found in parts of Namaqualand, but is unlikely to grow so many stems. E. virosa has narrower stems with fewer ridges. If this site is an abandoned garden where exotic plants have been introduced and some survived, many other possibilities could arise.
