Euphorbia filiflora grows a cluster of stems branching at the base and higher up, the plant reaching 30 cm in height. The swollen stems may become 7 cm in diameter, slightly club-shaped to cylindrical.

The cyathia or flowers grow solitary on long stalks (4,5 cm). Several narrow bracts are present upon the brown to reddish flower peduncles (stalks). The peduncles are thicker and straighter than the leaves (Frandsen, 2017; Williamson, 2010; iNaturalist; www.bihrmann.com).
