Pachypodium namaquanum stem-tip growth

Pachypodium namaquanum is one of the features of the indigenous vegetation of the desolate Namaqualand countryside. The plants are not so often seen among the boulders, although it grows taller than most sharing its home ground.

The winter growth season triggers action, all concentrated at the stem-tip: a fringe of leaves around a dense cluster of flowers on the base and a multitude of new spines.

Not the presentation style often seen anywhere (Frandsen, 2017; Le Roux, et al, 2005; Eliovson, 1990; Wikipedia).
