This Restio triticeus plant was seen near Hermanus. Several compact spikelets are present on each culm. The cartilaginous, pointed, brown bracts still cover florets in younger inflorescences.

Female plants have three feathery styles on the ovary of each floret. Male florets have ovoid anthers on white filaments. This plant is probably female.

The species is commonly known as wheat Capereed (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Dorrat-Haaksma and Linder, 2012; iNaturalist).
