Aulax cancellata male flowers

Aulax cancellata, the channelleaf featherbush, is a single-stemmed shrub that grows to 2,5 m in height. It has narrow to needle-like leaves that are channelled and hairless, ascending up the stems. The leaves become from 5 cm to 10 cm long.

This is a male plant bearing stem-tip, clustered racemes of pollen-bearing yellow flowers. These plants reseed after fire, unlike the multi-stemmed A. pallasia that is able to resprout from its woody rootstock.

The three Aulax species are all found in the fynbos (Manning, 2007; iSpot).
