Staberoha aemula, commonly the sandvlakte tasselreed and in Afrikaans klokkiesriet (little bells reed), is a tufted perennial growing a multitude of simple stems from 30 cm to 60 cm tall. Brown leaf sheaths persist tightly wrapped around the culms. The plant does not sprout after fire.

The species is distributed in Western Cape mountains from Clanwilliam and the Cederberg to Prince Albert on the Swartberge; not in the Cape Peninsula. The photo was taken on the Piketberg Mountain.

The habitat is sandy flats in seasonally moist, montane areas. The species is not considered to be threatened in its habitat early in the twenty first century.

The nine Staberoha species all grow in the fynbos (Dorrat-Haaksma and Linder, 2012; Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2010; Manning, 2007; iNaturalist; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
