Bushveld winter colours

Autumn has the reputation for spectacular leaf (dis)coloration. This multi-coloured palette of bushveld midwinter (June in the Pilanesberg) is equally magnificent.

Every species deals with drought and cold in its own way. Other than the familiar early discard of leaves, some retain them in altered hue to paint a brighter picture; as different choir voices find their means of expression in polyphonic harmony.
