The long and straight or curved Gnidia pinifolia calyx tubes are hairy and slightly widened, a short distance behind the mouths where the lobes and the petal scales spread. The petals or scales are shorter than the calyx lobes below them, the anthers in young flowers still creamy yellow.

The oblong leaves are channelled above and mucro-tipped, some with yellowish colour change. The leaves do not quite live up to their pine-leaf saffron bush common name (Bean and Johns, 2005; iNaturalist; https://www.fernkloof.org.za; https://pza.sanbi.org).
