The thin corolla tubes of Gardenia thunbergia flowers become 7 cm long, cylindrical and greenish to yellow. The short calyx tube covering the corolla base is also visible on one flower in picture.

The spreading corolla lobes, overlapping at the base, have an oblique shape like a broad blade, preferably come across in the forest in soft white petal texture, rather than in metal.

The anthers are shortly exserted, visible above the flower mouth. In the photo they are narrow, purplish brown and curving outwards around the style that protrudes beyond them. The stigma is club-shaped with swollen, longitudinal ridges in the shape of hairpins (Coates Palgrave, 2002; Leistner, (Ed.), 2000).
