Gibbaeum geminum is a mat-forming perennial succulent. The mature plant has a woody stem.
The leaves are cylindrical, slightly keeled and thinner than some of the characteristic squat leaves of several other popular Gibbaeum species.
G. geminum grows and flowers in winter, rests through the hot, dry summer. Flowers are about 1 cm across and pink or violet with yellow centres. The plant flowers more generously than some of the other species in the genus.
The species distribution is in the Western Cape, mainly in the west of the Little Karoo.
The habitat is karoid scrub. The species is not considered to be threatened in its habitat early in the twenty first century (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; www.cactus-art.biz; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
