The leaf-tips of Gladiolus dalenii subsp. dalenii show in this Sani Pass photo. The short, broad blades taper fast to their tips, may also attenuate slightly.

About four to seven narrowly sword-shaped to linear, ribbed leaves are grown in a basal fan-shape from the perennial corm. The leaves are present at bloomtime as in the photo. The dull green to grey green leaves are from 15 cm to 25 cm wide and often about half as long as the inflorescence. A few smaller stem leaves are also present (Manning, 2009; Goldblatt and Manning, 1998; Pooley, 1998; iNaturalist).
